Charles Eames
Charles Eames é una delle personalità creative del secolo, ha studiato architettura e durante i settant'anni della sua vita ha lavorato in molti campi sempre con grande intensità e con successo. Senza trarne grande soddisfazione ha anche costruito la propria casa a Santa Monica (California) e la casa del regista Billy Wilder, suo grande amico.
Preferì comunque sempre un genere di lavoro che lo responsabilizzasse in prima persona dall'inizio alla fine, con questo spirito ha disegnato molti mobili, ha fotografato e girato film, ha insegnato e ideato giocattoli.
Eames è una di quelle fortunate persone che hanno fatto sempre solo ciò che gli piacesse fare.
Si cimentò anche in brevi film (sul pane, sui giocattoli, sull'India, sull'architettura barocca) con cui voleva divertire sia i bambini che gli specialisti.
In tutti i suoi lavori sua moglie Ray (si sposarono nel 1941) ebbe una parte importantissima. |

Charles Eames
Charles Eames is one of the creative personalities of the century. He studied architecture and in his seventy years of life has worked in many fields, always with great intensity and success. He built his own house in Santa Monica (California) and that of his great friend, director Billy Wilder without gaining great satisfaction.
Nevertheless, he always preferred the type of work which gave him prime responsibility from the beginning till the end. With the same attitude he designed many pieces of furniture, photographed, made films, taught and created toys (delightful animals made of plywood, the well-known card game).
Eames is one of the fortunate few persons who has always been able to do anything that he wanted to do. He was also successful with short films with which he intended to amuse not only children but also experts.
In all of his undertakings, his wife Ray (he got married to in 1941) has played an important role. |
