| Josef Hoffman Hoffmann é stato allievo all'accademia viennese del grande architetto Otto Wagner. Terminati gli studi, soggiornò per qualche tempo in Italia: la sua tesi di laurea, infatti, era stata premiata con il premio Roma. La casa di campagna italiana, intonacata di bianco, cubica con le finestre tagliate nei muri in ordine irregolare, ha certamente ispirato le sue prime opere architettoniche. Come molti suoi contemporanei, anche Hoffmann voleva creare l'opera d'arte totale. I suoi parametri: semplicità, onestà e accuratezza, nei suoi progetti è evidente la preferenza per le forme rettilinee, cubiche, con ornamenti presi dalla geometria. |
| Josef Hoffman Hoffmann, while at the “Viennese Academy”, was a student of the great architect, Otto Wagner. Having finished his studies, he visited Italy for quite some time; in fact, his thesis was awarded the “Premio Roma”. The Italian country house, cubic, whitewashed, with windows cut out of walls in an irregular fashion, without any doubt inspired his first architectural works. Like many of his contemporaries, Hoffmann also wanted to create the complete work of art. His guidelines: simplicity, honesty and accuracy. His designs clearly evidence his preference for rectilinear, cubic forms with geometric ornamentation. |
