Così George Nelson riassumeva la “filosofia” della Herman Miller inc., l’importante azienda di design della quale é stato direttore artistico per vent’anni. Nonostante la sua importanza nella diffusione del design negli Usa (fra l’altro, in collaborazione con Eames, Saarinen, Noguchi), George Nelson ha cominciato come architetto. Nato nel Connecticut, dopo la laurea a Yale ha vissuto per qualche anno a Roma. In Europa, ha conosciuto principi ed esponenti dell’”International Style”. |
