George Nelson

1°: ciò che fai è importante.

2°: il design é parte integrante dell’azienda.

3°: il prodotto deve essere onesto.

4°: tu stesso devi decidere cosa vuoi fare.

George Nelson

First: what you create is important.

Second: design is an integrating part of the firm.

Third: the product has to be honest.

Fourth: you yourself have to decide what you want to do.

Fifth: there is always a market for good design.

This is how George Nelson summarizes the “philosophy” of the “Herman Miller inc.”. The important design company for which he has been artistic director for twenty years.

Notwithstanding his importance in the diffusion of design in the USA (also in collaboration with Eames, Saarinen and Noguchi). George Nelson began his career as an architect. Born in Connecticut, after obtaining a degree at Yale, he lived for a few years in Rome.

In Europe he met princes and exponents of the “International style”.
