Eero Saarinen

Eero Saarinen è figlio del famoso architetto finlandese e primo presidente della “Cranbrook Academy of Arts”, Eliel Saarinen. Nato ad Helsinki, emigra con la sua famiglia negli Stati Uniti nel 1923.

Nel 1937 inizia una collaborazione con Charles Eames che lo conduce a sviluppare una serie di mobili molto avanguardisti premiati varie volte al concorso “Organic Design in Home Furnishings” organizzato dal “Museum of Modern Art “ di New York.

Disegnerà, più avanti, mobili di grande successo per “Knoll International”. Lavora nell'agenzia di suo padre fino alla morte di Eliel nel 1950.

Il suo più grande progetto architetturale rimane il famoso terminale TWA dell' aeroporto “Kennedy”, a New York.

Eero Saarinen

Eero Saarinen was the son of the celebrated Finnish architect and flrst President of the “Cranbrook Academy of Art”, Eliel Saarinen. Born in Helsinki, he emigrated with his family to the United States in 1923.

In 1937, he began a collaboration with Charles Eames which culminated in a series of highly progressive and prizewinning furniture designs for the “Museum of Modern Art's” 1940 "Organic Design in Home Furnishings" competition.

He later produced several highly successful furniture designs for “Knoll International”. He worked in his father's architect studio until Eliel's death in 1950.

His greatest architectural project was the famous TWA terminal at the “John F. Kennedy Airport”, New York.
