Frank Lloyd Wright
Wright nasce l’8 giugno del 1867 a Richland Centre, Wisconsin.
Lasciò la casa paterna a vent’anni per approdare a Chicago “alla ricerca dell’architettura”, che scoprì nell’opera di Adler e Sullivan. Nel 1893 aprì uno studio per conto proprio.
Utilizzando appropriatamente il cemento armato, il vetro, l’acciaio e le strutture a sbalzo, Wright concepì edifici ove il senso architettonico coincideva con la qualità dello spazio interno da cui derivava poi anche l’esterno.
Questo nuovo concetto di libertà dello spazio interno, quasi di natura mistica, pervaderà poi tutte le sue opere.
Gli incarichi aumentarono poi progressivamente dal 1930, così come aumentò la forza del suo genio creativo.
La varietà delle forme, delle idee, degli spazi, dei concetti e delle innovazioni che scaturivano dalla sua mente.
Egli affidò ad un gruppo di architetti il compito di diffondere la filosofia dell’architettura organica : fu così che nacque la “Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation”, tuttora conservatrice e sviluppatrice della sua opera e dei suoi principi. |

Frank Lloyd Wright
Wright was born on June 8th, 1867 in Richland Centre, Wisconsin. He left the family home at the age of 20 in order to go to Chicago “in search of architecture” which he discovered in the work of Adler and Sullivan.
With the appropriate use of reinforced concrete, glass, steel and slab structures, Wright ideated buildings whose architectural feeling coincided with that of the indoor-outdoor space.
This new concept of openness of the indoor space will pervade all of his works.
The diversity of forms, ideas, special concepts and innovations which gushed forth from his mind seemed to be never ending.
He entrusted a group of architects with the job of spreading the philosophy of organic architecture and thus was founded the “Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation”; until today, caretaker and promulgator of his work and ideas. |
